LAST BIG BEND ENVIRONMENTAL FORUM

The Big Bend Environmental Forum and the League of Women Voters of Tallahassee are hosting a candidates’ environmental forum on Thursday, October 7 for local government (Tallahassee City Commission: Seat 3; and Leon County Commission District 1 and At Large 2) and the area’s seats in the Florida House and Senate and Congress.  Participants will have the opportunity to offer questions covering environmental, energy, sustainability, and growth management issues.
The event will be held at Tallahassee City Hall (300 S. Adams Street, City Commission Chambers, 2nd Floor), and will run from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM.  The Forum will be preceded at 5:45 PM by a candidate meet and greet with displays by host environmental and civic organizations.

392 AND RISING

Join your Tallahassee community to do ten for 10.10.10 as a part of the worldwide event to raise awareness about climate change and reducing our carbon footprint.  

Lake Ella, FSU Landis Green and FAMU Park will be sites joining over 1700 events in 140 counties on October 10th to learn more about what we can do to stop the rise in carbon in our atmosphere. 

Based on Bill McKibbon's work at 350.org scientist around the world measure the earth's atmosphere and have determined that the amount of CO2 is at 392 ppm and rising.  350 symbolizes at maximum level of CO2 at which the earth can sustain life without dramatic and devastating climate changes. 
You can take the pledge to make 10 sustainable lifestyle changes, learn more about 350 and meet others working to make a difference.  Bring your neighbor--the one who never puts out the recycling bin!
