GREEN JOBS PROVIDE SOLAR WATER HEATER INSTALLATIONS

Ten solar thermal hot water systems will be installed in low income homes throughout Duval County as part of the Northeast Florida Community Action Agency's Weatherization Assistance Program.  The program is funded by the US Department of Energy.  This community action agency partnered with the Community Rehabilitation Center Institute, a not for profit community training partner, Northwest Support Services, a job placement partner and SNRY Solar Inc., the product supplier, to facilitate these installations.

The pilot employs 11 solar technician graduates who install the water heaters and inspect the homes under US Department of Energy guidelines.  The community action agency identified the eligible homes, according to income guidelines and other criteria.

Tallahassee's Capital Area Community Action Agency has a similar program to train individuals to weatherize homes and install energy efficient improvements in partnership with Tallahassee Community College.
