The state acknowledged in 2008 that nutrient pollution tainted 1,000 miles of rivers, 350,000 acres of lakes and 900 square miles of estuaries in Florida.
In case this may have gotten lost in the holidays, the St Petersburg Times published an editorial last month about incoming governor, attorney general and other elected officials who are in direct opposition to the recent Environmental Protection standards for rivers, lakes and springs.
